Why did the left wing democratic party not want the Contras funded, they were fighting the communistic Nicaraguan government which was against the The Monroe Doctrine?
To give an answer to this question we need to know why the Contras were fighting the communistic Nicaraguan government. President Ronald Reagan was involved in a three-year military campaign to overthrow Ortega and the Sandinista party. His reason was their being pro-Marxist radicals desiring to spread communism to all of Central America, and if possible South America.
Arms sales to Iran was a way for the Reagan administration to raise money for the Contras secretly. This was fought by the left wing democrat party and developed into a trial in which members of the Reagan administration, Colonel Oliver North and Admiral John Poindexter were Indicted. They were found guilty and sentenced, President Reagan though pardoned them.
The Monroe Doctrine states that the U.S. would oppose a foreign power extending its power to the Western Hemisphere, including North and South America, and would be viewed as acts of aggression, requiring U.S. intervention. Not sure why the The Monroe Doctrine wasn’t imposed here by President Reagan.
Secretary of State John Kerry of the Obama administration in 2013 said that the Monroe Doctrine was dead. Another fabricated comment from the Secretary of State Kerry.
Back in the mid 1980s Contra “guerrilla soldiers in Honduras had been covertly in training” by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency in an attempt to destabilize and overthrow the Sandinista revolutionary government of Nicaragua and its President, Daniel Ortega. Robert Gates CIA director of the Reagan administration strongly, was in defense of the Contra operation, debating the need for U.S. intervention in Nicaragua to in force the Monroe doctrine”.
The elimination of the communist Sandinista party of Nicaragua should have been opposed by the democrats in Congress, but instead it was fought. Nicaragua a small country in Central America at the time run by pro-Marxist radicals, their desire was to spread communism to all of Central America, and possibly beyond.
A foreign power could be a Communistic type government which is against The Monroe Doctrine and should be challenged and opposed.
Communism countries or regimes in the twentieth century adopted their beliefs from The Communist Manifesto, published in1848 written by Karl Marx 1818 to 1883 and Friedrich Engels 1820 1895. Communism is against capitalism and religion contrary to the U.S. Constitution, and a [Karl Marx Quote:

The evils of communism can be shown here with two dictators:

- Mao Tse Tung Dictator of China Estimated killed up to 70 million.
It’s believed that communism has killed 100 million people.
Another communist Foreign power into the the Western Hemisphere, Hutchison-Whampoa, a Hong Kong international trading company, which is owned by Hong Kong billionaire, Li Ka-Shing, who has strong ties with Beijing China, signed a 25 year lease to operate entrance and exiting ports with Panama. This control over the Panama Canals entrance and exit ports has been since 2000. A source says Ten percent is owned by China Resources, the commercial arm of the Peoples Republic of China.
The area the U.S. had in Panama for a military presence at one time, but given back to the Panamanians was taken over by this Chinese group. What was the purpose of China doing that, what is their intention to do there? Entrance and exit ports in Panama operated by Foreign power individuals since 2000. Of course shouldn’t be tolerated.
Communist China has become rich with Capitalism, but it is still run by Communists which can still be a national security threat to our nation and in the years to come.
