This perpetual never-ceasing onslaught of the New Testament will go on until time ends, so Christians will have to be observant and continue strong in the faith, teaching the truth.
When the early true church opened its doors in A.D. 32 there was the ended Jewish dispensation and Roman empire attacking it. As it strayed from New Testament teaching it eventually progressed into the Roman Catholic church which dominated Europe for 1300 years, assuming its power started in the forth century.
As the New Testament has revealed The early true church opened its doors in A.D. 32, Christ ascended to heaven, Acts 1:9 and Peter addressing Jews in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost to repent and be baptized allowing them to become Christians, Acts 2:38. History has substantiated this new religion and the plight that has befell it.
The early church started with special gifts from God, certain men given the ability to speak in tongues (languages of the time), giving wisdom, needed knowledge, gifts of healing, prophecy and other for the growth and spread of this early new church. Ephesians 4:11-12, 1 Corinthians 12:1, 7-11.
These gifts for the early church were needed at first, but in time at the end of the first century or the beginning of the second the New Testament was put together and the gifts, not needed anymore were taken away. All of the 27 books had been canonized in the first century.
The perpetual onslaught continues when towards the end of the second century city churches began to take over outlying churches which should of remained Autonomous.
Another trend occurred where one bishop assuming more influence took control over others of that church. A plurality of bishops was set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, each to guide the flock asserting equal rights of the churches bishops, no one bishop becoming the head bishop. As noted in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, a plurality of bishops is set forth for a congregation.
Matthew foretells of continued attacks in Matthew 7:15-16 (KJV).
- 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
- 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Paul predicted in 1 Timothy 4:1-2 (KJV)
- 1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
- 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
And as history has revealed the Early New Testament church evolved into the apostatized Roman Catholic church.
Our hope would of been that the early New Testament church had stayed true to its original form, but man has the uncanny ability to develop unscriptural change.
With the misleading consequences brought on by the Roman Catholic church and induced more on by the Reformation movement, again history and our present day observance reveals so many unscriptural churches that the true church is some what hidden (hard to find).
The Reformation or reform movement only brought about more unscriptural churches. Men like Martin Luther, John Calvan, John Knox introduced or influenced more unscriptural churches after which in passing centuries grew into the thousands of unscriptural churches of today, causing the ability to cloak the true church.
