One dictionary definition of an Ambassador is:
a diplomatic official of the highest rank, sent by one sovereign country to another as its resident representative
As Ambassadors to Christ we represent and proclaim what Christ teaches and represents in the scriptures.
In 2 Corinthians 5:20 (KJV) Christians are called ambassadors.
- 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
In the great commission Mark 16:15-16 (NASB) instructs us to preach the gospel to all races.
- 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
- 16 “He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.
Here we are instructed not to be prejudiced against other races, but to teach them the gospel also. All races are Gods children.
As ambassadors one of are main duties is to proclaim the gospel teaching to others how to be come a Christian.
We use these steps:
Believe, Repent, confess and be Baptized.
As we grow in the gospel we must teach the morals involved, leading a good life, being examples to others, doing what we can to teach others to follow Christ.
It’s easy to be lead astray, keep firmly planted in the truth.
Remember this parable of Christ:
Matthew 7:24-27 (KJV)
- 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
- 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
- 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
- 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
So as ambassadors for Christ we are daily to do our duties proclaiming the gospel with our belief firmly planted in the truth.
