After the Civil war ended in 1865 the South was a torn group of states, it took them time to recover from the invasion of the carpetbaggers, and the states to regroup and to provide for its citizens. The blacks were kept in a state of suspension for years, like more than a hundred.
- The 13th Amendment which abolished slavery was passed in 1865, the Republican voted 100 percent for, and the Democrats only 23 percent in congress.
- The 14th Amendment passed in 1868 gave to freed slaves full citizenship, the Republican voted 94 percent for, and the Democrats zero percent in congress.
- The 15th Amendment passed in 1870, gave freed slaves the right to vote, the Republican voted 100 percent for it, and the Democrats zero percent in congress.
The Republican party founded by Abraham Lincoln was not liked in the South as the Union under president Abraham Lincoln had defeated the South.
In 1868, the Ku Klux Klan founded a couple of years earlier elected its first Grand Wizard, Nathaniel Bedford Forrest. Some 65 years later His grandson wrote in the Klan’s Kourier Magazine, September issue 1928, I have never voted for a man that was not a Democrat. [Source]
Also my father never voted for a man that was not a Democrat either. My great-grandfather was during his life a Democrat. My great-great-grandfather had been one of the founders of the Democratic party.
As blacks spread to Washington DC, Chicago and other northern states they had to segregate into black communities, evolving into the black ghetto, black on black crime, drugs and shootings. Abortions are extremely high since the 1950s.
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1933 took the country to the left. He didn’t get the country out of the depression, World War II did.
President Jimmy Carter merited unfavorable in his four years.
President Barack Obama in his eight year had the nation with 94 million not working, and 53 million on food stamps.
The nation can function properly with qualified people running it.
